A sales rep carries a collection to buyers, writes the orders, and manages the accounts in a territory, either employed by the brand or working through an agency.

Selling is the visible part and the smaller one. Most of a rep’s week goes on the work around the order: chasing confirmations, checking availability before promising it, reworking a buy that came in over budget, and telling a buyer early that a delivery has slipped.
The relationship is the asset. A rep who has sold a buyer well for four seasons gets the appointment, gets told the open-to-buy honestly, and gets the benefit of the doubt when a shipment is late. That takes years, and it does not transfer when the rep leaves.
Reps lose days to administration that has nothing to do with selling: re-keying marked-up PDFs, quoting from a linesheet that has since changed, and answering availability questions by email because they cannot see stock themselves.
The fix is access rather than effort. A rep who can see live ATS and write the order in front of the buyer closes it in the appointment, which is both faster and more accurate than the version typed up three days later.
