B2B ordering platform

A B2B ordering platform is the system a brand uses to show its range to trade buyers and take their orders directly, replacing linesheets, spreadsheets, and emailed order forms.

What it replaces#

The traditional loop is a PDF linesheet sent out, a marked-up copy sent back, and someone re-keying it into an ERP. Every step is a place for a stale price, a discontinued colourway, or a mistyped quantity to enter the order, and the errors surface after the order has been confirmed.

An ordering platform closes the loop by making the document the buyer looks at the same thing they order from, priced and available in real time. The gain is accuracy before speed: the order that arrives is already valid.

What it is not#

It is not a consumer webshop with trade prices. Wholesale ordering has to carry size runs, order minimums, several price lists against one range, delivery windows, production-backed pre-order, and partial shipments, none of which a consumer checkout models.

It is also not an ERP. The platform owns the selling surface, the range, and the order while it is being built; the ERP owns stock, invoicing, and the ledger once that order is confirmed. Brands get into trouble when they ask either one to do the other’s job.
