Replenishment is reordering product a retailer already carries, placed against stock the brand holds rather than against a new seasonal buy.
Oct 5, 2026
A seasonal buy is a planned appointment months ahead of delivery. Replenishment is reactive, small, frequent, and triggered by something selling out, which means it is won on availability and speed rather than on the strength of the collection.
It is also the most profitable business a brand has. The product already exists, the account already sells it, and no sample, appointment, or selling cost sits against the order.
Replenishment only occurs if reordering is easier than not reordering. If a retailer has to email a rep, wait for a stock check, and then receive a proforma, they will wait until the next appointment, and the sale goes to whoever was quicker.
That means live ATS visible to the account and a carryover range deep enough to serve it. Brands running every style as a one-off drop have no replenishment business by design, which is a choice worth making deliberately.
